PS3 Woes...Will not turn on, no lights no nothing, Warranty voided?

My PS3 I just got will not turn on or nothing. It is plugged in. I think the power supply might be dead. Is there any way to do a do-it-yourself fix on this issue? It can't be sent into Sony because the warranty is voided. (Bought secondhand for $50 from newspaper clifieds)
