Is it possible that Asperger's Syndrom is hereditary, and that women can suffer from it?

It would seem that mental health issues in general are hereditary, since there's a lot of ADD, SAD, and Depression in my family, but as far as I know, I'm the only one with AS. Which is proof that women can have it too.
